Friends of Socktopus is generously giving away two do-it-yourself kits-a Sock Dog Kit and a Sock Monkey Kit!
These awesome kits offer all materials needed to make your very own Sock Dog, Sock Monkey, or Socktopus. Each kit contains one pair of socks, polyester fiberfill stuffing (vacuum packed), button eyes, needle, thread, and easy to follow instructions. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

(and I like that you can stick him in the washing machine if his attitude gets him into too much mischief).

Well, it’s not really which one I love…more like which one my son loves…hehe! He said that his “bestest” (in his language that means his favorite) is the monkey! I would love to be able to make these for him and the other for his “girlfriend” across the road (only 3 years old and already a girlfriend)!

Oh, how the original Sock Monkey still tears at my heart! He reminds me of a Frenchman (because all sock monkeys are French!) I had a torrid affair with when I lived in Russia so many years ago…. A classic toy, a classic romance. All he’s missing is a baguette and a thin, tiny mustache.

My favorite(s) is the special socktopi made from recycled sweaters–recycling is great; the colors and patterns are as individual as the socktopi themselves. (And the dog is darling, too.)

Although they are all just perfect, my favorite would have to be the Sweater Owl. About 13 years ago I had a white owl fly down and touch my head with its wing. Everyone says that means owl are lucky for me. I have never made one and would love the opportunity to do so. Thank you so much.

I think nugget is the best but my husband and daughter would have so much fun working together to make the traditional sock monkey. They love sock monkeys but I never let them buy one because I tell them we can make one. If we had all the stuff then it would be easy.

Why do I love the Traditional Socktopus best of all (besides that it has enough arms for a big group hug)? It actually looks like a creature that COULD exist, way down there in the depths. The red lips mimic anemones, all the better to attract lunch…I can just see it swimming around, grabbing onto shells or sidling into caves, as octopi do.
